Why would I want to start seeds indoors - anywhere from 6 to 8 to even 12 weeks before planting the seedlings outdoors?  What's the best way to do that?  What seeds can I plant in the ground now and what are the advantages of planting directly in the soil?  Is it true I should wait until May to plant my tomatoes?  Find the answers to these questions and many more when Master Gardener Abby Garner discusses seed starting and planting your spring and summer vegetable gardens!

You can stock up on tomatoes, peppers, other vegetables, herbs and flowers at the 16th Annual Spring Garden Market at History San Jose, on Saturday April 10.  Doors open at 9 a.m.  See the Spring Garden Market webpage for more details on this day-long festival.

Or ... visit us at the Master Gardener Palo Alto Demonstration Garden on Saturday, April 17th for the Annual Heirloom Tomato and Pepper Sale; starts at 9 a.m.  Eggplant and basil will also be offered for sale.  Click here for directions to the Palo Alto Demonstration Garden.
