Our annual event and plant sale!  The soil warms up for tomato and pepper planting from May 1 on.   This is the perfect time to buy plants for your vegetable garden.

In addition to shopping for your favorite varieties - come and tour the Palo Alto Demonstration Garden, its four vegetable beds, annual flowers bed, mini fruit tree orchard and espaliered fruit trees and our extensive low-water ornamental garden.

Start: 9:00 am
End: 11:00 am

Master Gardener David Peterson will detail methods of protecting the garden during the current drought, which is a regular occurrence in the Bay Area.  He will discuss the biological effects of drought on plant life, how to use native and Mediterranean plants that are naturally adapted to low-water climates like ours, plus simple ways to reduce water use by at least ten percent.  Other topics include: irrigation, mulches, how to save household water for thirsty plants, and making the best use of less water.
